about

This is the sound of contemporary Afro-Cuban sensitivity. In the piece you can hear shades of Klimax, Adain Pérez, and Issac Delgado, interwoven with genuine jazz sophistication. Beautiful solo by Kalí as if this piece the last statement of the recording was his chance to share his multi-lingual aesthetic and taste. Gabriel plays percussively and flowing at the same time. In some ways this has a hard bop feel as if you could imagine this being a Lee Morgan composition. All of a sudden all hell breaks loose, montunos are unleased and a coro and soneo are set free to firmly establish that this recording is by an hijo de Cuba, a son of jazz and a free spirit, free to feel, free to play, free to fly, and most of all, free to explore.
